Death of a multi-tasker

Can someone please tell me where I’m going wrong? I mean, isn’t modern technology supposed to make one’s life easier? Easier, quicker, more efficient , thus freeing up valuable time? Why is it then, that several hours of my day are now disappearing as I answer questions on my Facebook page, update our new Facebook Six Brothers fan site, have 3-way Skype conversations with colleagues and post my twitter updates? Very soon I shan’t be able to think in anymore than 140 characters and quite frankly its getting a bit worrying. Take our anniversary dinner last week. There I was sitting in a very posh hotel, eating very posh food, having some lovely child-free time with Mr Max and all I could think of was how I was going to manage to tweet amusingly about the couple on the next table who were taking photos of their dinner. Not the sort of thing that should be occupying my mind on my 13th wedding anniversary.

Oh and it’s half term. The whole horror of a two week half-term (whose bright idea was that?) is being made much worse by the fact that I have a horrible cold. Would I rather be in bed with a hot cup of chicken soup and a nice magazine? Yes. Am I able to ? No. Instead I’ve been shuffling around the farm high on Lemsip, wearing a blue fluffy dressing gown and wellies, humping great big sacks of feed whilst trying to stop our small daughter from throwing herself off the trampoline. You’d think with 6 sons I would be able to sit down and feel sorry for myself, but unfortunately the useful older ones are at University and the younger ones have been spending the first week inventing ways to torture each other. Our 9 year old boy, has been playing poker with our 6 year old boy for cheesy biscuits. For poker read swindling. Oh god I have produced a card sharp. Still, looking on the bright side. If my nose keeps running and my eyes keep streaming I’m won’t be needing the vampire makeup for the village Halloween party will I?
